The subjectivity of the work as a generator for new knowledge is my primary focus. The collages movt nr. 8: /ˈblakdʒak/ nr. 1 & nr. 2 were the starting point for movt nr. 8: Lobi Singi. In movt nr. 8: Lobi Singi (2015), I am taking up the legacy of James Baldwin, Jean Genet, Robert Mapplethorpe and mix them up with contemporary images of what Black masculinity is constructed to look like. A mix and match collage video work appears with a twist about the unspoken, the unseen and the silenced.  I am layering known and unknown images to portray certain complexities that lie beyond the stereotypical ideas about Black masculinity in order to address the relationship between Identity and the Self. It is up to the viewer to decide whether to question the content or to question their attitude to the subject.
